Despite Stuart Skinner winning his 100th career game in solid fashion vs. the Senators, the Oilers have decided to start Calvin Pickard tonight.

Calvin Pickard will be the one defending the Oilers' crease against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday, Tony Brar of Oilers TV, as well as Daily Faceoff's Jason Gregor reports.
Pickard has served as the Oilers' No. 2 netminder early in the regular season, but he'll draw in for his third start of the year Thursday.
In his previous two outings, he went 1-1-0 with a 2.54 GAA and .865 save percentage, numbers he'd like to improve upon.
This move is quite intriguing as Skinner played well vs. the Senators and won his 100th career game, so many fans felt the team would let him ride his momentum, but that won't be the case.
There has been a lot of unrest surrounding the Oilers' goaltending situation for the past several months.
The Oilers only have so many runs left during the primes of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, so many have urged them to consider wading into the goaltending market this season.

Both Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard will be free agents next summer

With Skinner and Pickard's contracts expiring next summer, it wouldn't be too difficult to nudge one of them out to accommodate a trade for a new netminder.
Let's not forget newly-acquired Connor Ingram, who is currently in the AHL attempting to regain his form. He could prove to be a factor eventually.
Shifting our focus back to tonight's game, Matt Savoie and Vasily Podkolzin have also swapped lines during today's line rushes, as Kris Knoblauch attempts to get the team's offense going.

The puck is set to drop at 9 PM MT, and Edmonton will need to be at its very best if it wants to slow down the red-hot Canadiens.
