The Edmonton Oilers and Stan Bowman have signed German forward Joshua Samanski to a two-year entry-level deal, the team reported earlier today.

The Edmonton Oilers have gone overseas to add some depth. The team announced today that they have signed German forward Josh Samanski to a two-year entry-level contract that begins in the 2025-26 season.
The 23-year-old center from Erding, Germany, who also has Canadian citizenship, scored 14 goals and 26 assists for a total of 40 points in 52 games during the 2024-25 season with Straubing.

Samanski was one of the top players in his German league

He led the Straubing Tigers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) as one of their top, star players.
Samanski has Canadian experience, as he spent one year in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Owen Sound Attack in 2019-20, scoring four goals and 16 assists in 54 games before he joined Straubing for the past four years.
Samanski a 6-5, left shot centre out of Germany. Leon Draisaitl pitched in over the phone to recruit. Will come to camp, likely start in Bako next season.

The 6-foot-5 power forward has competed for the German national team at two World Junior Championship tournaments as well as one Deutschland Cup, in addition to playing with Straubing during the 2024 Spengler Cup, where he potted two goals and one assist in five games.
