The Edmonton Oilers hired very controversial Stan Bowman to be the team's new GM earlier today, and now President Jeff Jackson is trying to contain the damage. Late last night, Jeff Jackson changed his social media accounts from public to private, which led many Oilers fans to believe that a big announcement was about to be made. Sure enough, the Oilers announced <a href='https://edmontonjournal.com/sports/hockey/nhl/cult-of-hockey/edmonton-oilers-name-stan-bowman-as-gm-and-vp-of-hockey-operations' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>the hiring of very controversial Stan Bowman</a>, and thanks to his privacy feature, Jackson won't be bombarded with threats or evil messages. All this tells me (going protected) is that Jeff Jackson does in fact see the tweets and that they get to him. He knows this move will be wildly unpopular. Vent your disgust. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/AdamsOnHockey/status/1816111761990508593'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> The #Oilers have named Stan Bowman General Manager & Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/EdmontonOilers/status/1816106427053924409'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> Bowman was banned from the NHL in 2021 for his involvement in the Kyle Beach s**ual assault scandal. There are reports that Bowman is a changed man and has done work to better himself, however many fans are still disgusted with him. The NHL recently allowed Bowman to be hired again by hockey teams, and the Oilers wasted no time in pouncing on him. Cancel culture members were very offended with this hiring, and voiced their displeasure on X. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/AHockey1993/status/1816104143729172870'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/OilerAlert/status/1816110189348807022'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/BouchBombs/status/1816103868788539806'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> Jackson doesn't seem to care what fans think. At the end of the day, he wants a winner, and whether you like him or not, Bowman has three Stanley Cups under his belt. For now, fans will have to wait for Jackson to go public again, and I bet they're eager to tell him how offended they are when that day comes. <img src='https://i.marqueur.com/habsetlnh/i/photo/452114.webp' width='100%' border='0' alt='image' loading='lazy' defer /> Credit Oilers Daily: <a href='https://www.oilersdaily.com/nhl/news/oilers-president-goes-into-damage-control-after-stan-bowman-hiring' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>Oilers President goes into damage control after Stan Bowman hiring</a>
