The Edmonton Oilers have announced the hiring of Andy Slaggert as their new Director of North American Recruiting after he previously worked for the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

The Edmonton Oilers have undergone numerous changes in their front office in recent years, not the least of which was former Chicago Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman taking over that role after the team and Ken Holland mutually parted ways after the 2024 SCF.
The Oilers have now announced the hiring of Andy Slaggert as the club's new Director of North American Recruiting, and he comes to Edmonton after having spent over three decades working for the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the NCAA.
Slaggert was an assistant coach with the Irish from 1992 to 2017 and was later named associate head coach.
During his time at Notre Dame, he helped the school win three CCHA championships in 2007, 2009 and 2013 and also recruited 70 future NHL Draft picks to the program.
Additionally, Notre Dame won the B1G championship twice in 2018 and 2019 with Slaggert.

The Oilers Are Coming Off A Disappointing Loss To The Rangers

The Oilers will have a chance to get back on the winning side of things tonight when they host the rebuilding Chicago Blackhawks at Rogers Place.
They'll be hoping for a better result than the 4-3 loss at the hands of the New York Rangers on home ice on Thursday.
The Oilers are in fifth place in the Pacific Division with a 5-4-3 record, and they want to avoid their record becoming worrisome as it has in each of the last two seasons before they turned on the burners.
