Edmonton Oilers Head Coach Kris Knoblauch Gives An Update On An Injury To A Key Defenseman
Tonight a new report from Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch has given a crucial update on an injury sustained by defenseman Mattias Ekholm.
Now this evening the Oilers have given yet another update on an injury to a key part of the team's core.
On Wednesday head coach Kris Knoblauch revealed that Mattias Ekholm would miss a game due to injury maintenance.
Now, several days later and one game off Ekholm was expected to be back in the lineup tonight against the Dallas Stars.
However, according to a new quote from Coach Knoblauch, Ekholm will now miss a second straight game.
Kris Knoblauch Confirms Mattias Ekholm Is Dealing With An Injury
During his pre-game remarks Knoblauch was asked about Ekholm's availability for tonight's game.
In his response, Knoblauch confirmed that Ekholm is indeed dealing with an injury and will once again be out.
Luckily it seems to be something the Oilers are not concerned about long-term as Ekholm is expected to re-join the team on their next road trip.
This is a frustrating update from Knoblauch knowing now that Ekholm is not entirely healthy and could be playing through something the rest of the season potentially.
Hopefully, a couple of games off will do the trick and get Ekholm back to 100% for the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
As more news becomes available regarding Ekholm's diagnosis and ensuing recovery we will continue to pass along the latest updates.
