Edmonton Oilers Forward Trent Frederic Suffers A Frustrating Injury Setback

The Edmonton Oilers made a big move at the NHL Trade Deadline to bring in Trent Frederic from the Boston Bruins.

At the time of the trade it was well known that Frederic was making his way back from an ankle injury and would miss several weeks before making his debut.

Even still Frederic remained out longer than expected providing frustration for fans before he finally returned to the ice in recent weeks and made his debut with the team against the Los Angeles Kings.

One shift into his debut Frederic seemed to be in some discomfort skating but continued on in the game seemingly getting past it.

Unfortunately today the Oilers have now announced a potentially significant setback for Frederic after that game against the Kings.

According to several reports Frederic suffered a setback and will now miss time after the incident against the Kings.

In addition the team announced that Draisaitl will remain out tonight as well.

Luckily according to GM Stan Bowman the new injury for Frederic does not seem as serious as the previous one he suffered.

With this setback Frederic will now have an extremely short window to ramp back up to full speed as the Stanley Cup Playoffs approach.
