The Oilers and their community are mourning the loss of visionary leader Bruce Saville, who sadly passed away, as announced earlier today.

A lifelong Edmontonian has sadly passed away. Bruce Saville was a businessman who created Saville Systems, a software company in the 1980s, which employed over one thousand people.
It was later sold, and Saville became a philanthropist, sitting on numerous non-profit boards and spending his time largely in the local sports community, as he had a great impact among young athletes. The Oilers issued a statement today.
Bruce's wife, Cathy King, also issued a statement today as she mourned the loss of her husband.
"My dear friends, it is with much pain and sadness to tell you that the love of my life passed away yesterday morning while in the hospital recovering from back surgery six weeks ago," the post read.

"After 27 years of Bruce by my side, I will miss him dearly. My heart is completely broken, missing my best friend."

It is definitely heartbreaking to hear that Bruce was in the process of recovering from back surgery when his passing occurred, which definitely sends chills throughout the hockey community.

Bruce Saville was Part of the Group That Saved the Oilers From Relocation

In the late 1990s, the Oilers were on the verge of relocating to Houston when the Edmonton Investors Group swooped in and saved the franchise. Saville was a part of this memorable group.
We offer our deepest condolences to all of Bruce's family, friends, and loved ones. Rest in peace, you will be missed.
