In an interview after the Canucks' loss to the St. Louis Blues, Quinn Hughes shared his clear frustration with how Vancouver has started the season. The Vancouver Canucks through their first three games have not looked like a Stanley Cup Playoff caliber team. After making several moves this offseason to position themselves to make the playoffs, the Canucks have come out flat particularly last night against the Blues falling 5-2.

Loading from Twitter ...

The loss put the Canucks at 1 and 2 for the season after a loss to the Edmonton Oilers as well and has left many fans already feeling hopeless about the outlook for the 2025-26 season as a whole. After the game, Quinn Hughes spoke to the media and shared many of the same frustrations as the fans particularly when it comes to the Canucks ineffective power play.
Canucks Captain Quinn Hughes Shares His Frustrations After Disappointing Start to the Season
Hughes was asked what has gone wrong so far this season to lead to the losses and lack of offensive production. We need to make more plays, not the result we wanted definitely have to change things up. When asked specifically about the struggles on the power play Hughes had a short but sharp response. It'd be nice to see the power play get a goal. Finally, Hughes was asked if the result was due to the effectiveness of the Blues or if it had to do more with the lack of compete and effectiveness from his squad. I think they're a good team and they were making a lot of plays and we just weren't matching that.

Loading from Twitter ...

Heading into the season, there were rumors that Quinn could look to leave the Canucks if the situation does not rapidly improve, and so far after these comments it seems Hughes' is not happy with the steps taken forward by the organization. As the season continues, all the pressure will be on new head coach Adam Foote to see if he can get things back on track in time to convince Hughes to stay long-term.
