Tonight, the Edmonton Oilers have announced that they have cut 14 players from their NHL training camp including placing one veteran on waivers.

The NHL preseason has kicked off and is in full swing with teams playing several games already.
As a result, teams continue to cut down their roster as they get closer to their final opening night lineup.

Edmonton Oilers Cut 14 Players From Training Camp

According to Oilers reporter Jason Gregor Stan Bowman and the team have cut down their roster by 14 players.
Most of the players sent down to the minors were expected but three notable names that have had their NHL dreams dashed are James Hamblin, Beau Akey, and Connor Clattenburg.
Hamblin, 26, was a standout in the AHL last season after having several stints in the NHL with the Oilers in previous seasons.
Now, he will be subject to waivers and potentially being claimed by other organizations.
As for Oilers top prospect Beau Akey, he was not expected to make the NHL this season but seeing Akey sent down this soon is a bit of a surprise.
Finally, Connor Clattenburg was an absolute training camp standout this season which led many to believe he had a chance of earning a spot in the opening night lineup.
Instead, Clattenburg will head to the AHL where he will look to earn his way back to the NHL to make his debut with the Edmonton Oilers.
