Tonight, Connor McDavid spoke to the media and called for changes to be made at every level of the organization to get the team back to higher standards.
After the Oilers’ unexpected first round exit, Leon Draisaitl spoke to the media and made the claim that the Oilers organization has taken steps backward over the last couple of seasons.
This comment from Draisaitl sparked conversation of a potential General Manager change in Edmonton if the Oilers core had lost faith in GM Stan Bowman.
Now, McDavid spoke to the media and echoed Draisaitl’s comments that change is needed to raise the standard again.

During his exit interview, McDavid was asked about Draisaitl’s comments and confirmed he feels the same way change is needed.
Yeah, I feel the same way. You know, it's only a couple days ago I made those comments, so I obviously feel the same as I did a couple days ago and agree with Leon that the organization as a whole has taken a step back, and that starts with me.
It remains unclear who exactly McDavid blames for the problems beyond himself but clearly the Oilers’ two biggest stars believe change is needed from a personnel standpoint.
If the Oilers do make a change they will need to conduct a quick hiring process before the NHL Draft rolls round in June.
As the dust settles, it will be interesting to see if the playoff failures cost Stan Bowman his job or if he gets one final opportunity to get it right.
As more news is reported on the Oilers’ offseason plans we will pass that news along to you.
