Connor McDavid Sends a Message to the Edmonton Oilers Fanbase After Signing an Extension

All summer long, the biggest story coming out of Edmonton was continued extension talks between the Edmonton Oilers and Connor McDavid.

Throughout the last couple of weeks, speculation continued to build and create doubt regarding McDavid's future in Edmonton causing at least some distraction in the locker room during the Oilers training camp and preseason action.

Today those talks finally came to an end as McDavid signed a two-year extension with the Edmonton Oilers.

This deal was also followed up by another big deal as defenseman Jake Walman secured his future in Edmonton alongside McDavid as well.

Now, with the deal complete, McDavid took to social media to send a special message to the Edmonton Oilers faithful ahead of opening night.

In a new post on Instagram, McDavid spoke directly to the Oilers fans with a simple and direct message.

McDavid, 28, is coming off of his 5th straight 100 point season in the NHL but still has not been able to collect the biggest accolade of all falling short in the Stanley Cup Finals two seasons in a row.

Now, McDavid and the Oilers can refocus on the task at hand of trying to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals and finally get over the mountain top and secure themselves in the record books as Stanley Cup Champions.
