Stan Bowman Makes a Statement After Finalizing Connor McDavid's Extension

After months of speculation, it finally happened, with the Edmonton Oilers locking in captain Connor McDavid on a two-year extension that will keep him in Edmonton for a further three seasons as he looks to finally help this team take the final step.

That deal carries a ridiculously cheap $12.5 million annual value, with the captain taking a team friendly discount in order to give them the flexibility needed to potentially make a run to the Stanley Cup for a third straight season.

Just mere hours after the deal was made official, Bowman spoke out on the deal that will see their captain remain for years to come, and unsurprisingly, he was very happy about how it all played out.

For the most part, Bowman focused on how committed McDavid is to the team and the city of Edmonton, and after coming so close over the past two seasons, McDavid is clearly committed to bringing Canada their first Stanley Cup since 1993.

Ultimately, this move was in the best interest of Bowman, McDavid, Draisaitl, the Oilers and the people of Edmonton, and despite things dragging out for a few months, the deal is now done, with the entire organization getting to focus on the 2025/26 campaign, which should hopefully be a historic one for this team.
