Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid did not hold back when he held his teammates' feet to the fire for what he thinks is a lack of energy and focus, especially after their 9-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche.

There was nothing that went right for the Edmonton Oilers last night against the Colorado Avalanche, who beat them 9-1 in stunning fashion.
The Oilers were bested in every possible category in their worst loss since 2010. Tensions are naturally going to be high right now, even among teammates.
There was also a tense moment in practice today, as McDavid was seen verbally jousting with defenseman Evan Bouchard in a spirited conversation on the ice.
After practice, McDavid said that the entire team has been playing flat
It's been flat. It's no secret it's been flat. That starts with me as a leader. It's been not enough energy, not enough emotion in games, and we got to find a way to bring some of that.

Everybody has more to bring so you start seeing some of that in practice. It's gotta translate into games. It's normal to have conversations with guys about different things we're seeing out there. The game has felt at times unorganized and out of sync, so the only way to work that stuff out is to be talking and communicating with your teammates. - Connor McDavid

The Oilers will have the chance to try and right the ship when they play the Columbus Blue Jackets tomorrow.

Connor McDavid Recently Signed A Two-Year Extension

Even though there was rampant speculation that McDavid could choose to leave the Oilers, that was put aside when he signed a two year contract extension.
But if the Oilers have many more performances like they had last night, people will naturally begin to wonder if he regrets that decision.
Right now, he's sticking with the Oilers and it's up to them to find the solution for their dull and uninspired play right now.
