Oilers analyst Mark Spector believes that the Oilers and coach Kris Knoblauch have given up on Stuart Skinner as their starting goaltender after a 9-1 loss last night to the Avalanche.

There was absolutely nothing that went right for the Edmonton Oilers last night against the Colorado Avalanche, who beat them by a whopping 9-1 final.
Goaltender Stuart Skinner's struggles continued, as he allowed four goals on just 19 shots against before he was replaced by Calvin Pickard, who then allowed five goals.
Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch didn't exactly sound full of confidence in Skinner's game despite saying all of the right things in his postgame media session, and a notable Oilers analyst believes that the team has officially given up on him.
Per Mark Spector of Sportsnet, the Oilers have seen enough of Skinner as their starter.
Either they quit on him or they quit on themselves, but either way what we saw Saturday tells us they are done with this netminder as their unchallenged No. 1.

We asked Knoblauch if the Oilers skaters have lost belief in their goalie, and the long pause before answering did more talking than any of his ensuing word salad possibly could.

I don't believe so

The amount of opposition goals being scored by unattended players right in front of the goalie is absurd, but two things can be true. What we saw Saturday tells us that GM Stan Bowman had better put a full-court press on the goaltending market, because his players have seen enough of Stuart Skinner as The Guy. - Mark Spector

The Oilers Made No Changes To Their Goaltending This Summer

Even though plenty of fans and analysts believed that the Oilers needed to make a significant change to their goaltending during the summer, GM Stan Bowman made no such thing.
He did acquire Connor Ingram from the Utah Mammoth as an inexpensive option in net, but that won't be the solution to the Oilers' problems.
The clock is now ticking on Bowman to make some kind of move.
