Edmonton Oilers goalie Connor Ingram, in his first year in an Oilers sweater, discussed some of his darkest days before entering the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program.
Goaltender Connor Ingram has been a good addition for the Edmonton Oilers since they acquired him from the Utah Mammoth.
So far in his first year with the Oilers, he's gone 6-3-1 with a .905 SV% and a shutout, helping him to bring his career back to normal.
Things weren't going so well for him during his days with the Utah Mammoth before he decided to enter the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program, and he talked about some of the tougher times he faced during that portion of his life.
There’s dark days and, especially with depression, there’s days where you don’t feel like doing anything, and you’re definitely a little bit of danger to yourself. (Sarah) has been around me enough to know when that was happening. I probably wasn’t going to make it unless I did it (go into the program). I definitely wouldn’t be playing hockey anymore. - Connor Ingram
Thankfully for Ingram and playing with the Oilers, he's feeling like his old self again.
Holy s—, Connor. You can still do this. Let’s go. Let’s go. This is still the same that it’s always been. Let’s go play hockey. - Connor Ingram
