Some worrying news came out of Oilers practice today, as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was nowhere to be found, leading many to question his availability for Game 4. After a lopsided 6-1 defeat at the hands of the Florida Panthers in Game 3, there were no changes to the Edmonton Oilers' forward lines or defensive pairings at practice on Tuesday. The only exception was the missing Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who had played 15:34 on Monday after being a game-time decision. Jeff Skinner, who has appeared in two playoff contests this spring, filled in for him at practice as a placeholder.

Loading from Twitter ...

Loading from Twitter ...

There was no word on why he was absent, and if it was due to a new injury, or possibly re-aggravating an older one.
Kris Knoblauch held a practice today, which was supposed to be their day off
The Oilers had originally planned on taking Tuesday off, but Monday's lackluster effort prompted a change in the schedule. Now trailing 2-1 in the Stanley Cup Final, the team will take Wednesday off before returning to the ice for a morning skate in preparation for Game 4 on Thursday. Head coach Kris Knoblauch was not sugarcoating things after the Game 3 defeat, calling on his players to bring a higher level of play to stave off falling into a 3-1 hole returning to Florida. Collectively, goaltender, defense, all our forwards, we all have to be better, Knoblauch said. They played a heck of a game, and we're going to have to raise ours. Connor McDavid said the same thing, acknowledging the Oilers have not played their best game in the series yet. It was a weird game, McDavid said. Obviously it wasn't our best - not our best at all. I don't think our best has shown up all series long. But it's coming. We'll shift the focus to finding a way to get a win in Game 4. Game 4 goes Thursday night in Sunrise, Florida, with Game 5 shifting back to Edmonton on Saturday night.
