Hockey is a fast-paced, violent sport, but there are still limits. Unfortunately for William Lagesson, he took it too far when he was seen choking his opponent. There has been a ton of drama and controversial non-suspensions in the NHL as well as some suspensions being handed out, but that has not only affected the NHL as we are seeing some issues in the AHL as well now. In a recent game between the Iowa Wild and the Grand Rapids Griffins, William Lagesson, their forward, was caught using an extremely illegal move on the ice when he got into a scuffle with Adam Raska, forcing him to tap out after it appeared that he was choking him on the ice.

There was plenty of backlash on social media after this as this is not something that you want to see in hockey. Fans were admitting that this was an extremely gross play and there are plenty of other ways that you can get under your opponent's skin besides using this type of action.

The AHL watched this video and following it announced that he was going to be receiving a three-game suspension even though many people felt it should have been a lot longer. Although many are saying that three games are not enough, Lagesson will have to deal with the aftermath because his team is going to be facing the Wild five more times, which means we can expect a lot more rough play going forward. The 28-year-old joined the Detroit Red Wings organization this year as a free agent. He has played 100 NHL games, including some with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and has no goals and 11 assists but after seeing this type of play, there's a good chance that he will never play again in the NHL.
