The NHL DoPS officially punished the Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn for a sucker punch on Mark Scheifele in Game 5 against the Winnipeg Jets.

Things got heated during the fifth game of the Central Division Finals between the Dallas Stars and the Winnipeg Jets last night.
With less than 10 minutes left in the third period, and the Jets leading 3-0, a scrum started, which resulted in 26 penalty minutes distributed by the referees.
During the incident, Jamie Benn punched Mark Scheifele in the face and got a game misconduct as well as a roughing penalty for his actions.
Winnipeg's Brandon Tanev got a roughing penalty and a game misconduct as well.
If you missed it, here's how it went down:
Today, the NHL announced official consequences for Benn.

Dallas Stars' Captain Jamie Benn Gets Fined By The NHL

Indeed, he will pay a $5,000 fine, the maximum amount allowed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement:
"NEW YORK -- Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for roughing Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele late during Game 5 of the teams' Second Round series in Winnipeg on Thursday, May 15, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 13:28 of the third period. Benn was assessed a minor penalty for roughing as well as a 10-minute misconduct.

The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund."
In 12 playoff games this year, Benn, 35, scored only three points but brings a physical presence and, as we saw in the Scheifele incident, some grit to the lineup.
The Stars will have another opportunity to close the series tomorrow evening in Dallas. To stay alive, the Jets will need to stop their nine-road-game losing streak tonight and force the two teams to return to Winnipeg for a Game 7.
