Pittsburgh Penguins analyst Josh Yohe ripped the overtime format of the Olympics after Team Canada lost to Team USA in the gold medal game today in Milan.
It was a historic finish today in the Milan Olympics, as Team USA broke the hearts of Canadian fans everywhere by winning the gold medal, 2-1 in overtime.
Jack Hughes matched Sidney Crosby’s golden goal from 16 years earlier with a golden goal of his own, giving Team USA their first gold medal since 1980.
But not everyone was happy with the overtime format of the Olympics, which was the same as the NHL in the sense of both teams only having three skaters apiece on the ice.
Pittsburgh Penguins analyst Josh Yohe, who routinely covers Crosby, said he did not like the overtime format for the Olympics.
I will repeat what I said before about 3 on 3 in OT. Regardless of who wins, it’s a joke and turns a great hockey game into a gimmick. - Josh Yohe
Canada head coach Jon Cooper also said he did not like the overtime format; though his critics will point out that he didn’t express any disdain after Canada beat Czechia 4-3 in OT.
Team USA Has Won The Gold Medal
For the first time since 1980, Team USA will be taking the gold medal home with them.
They previously lost to Canada in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics games
In heartbreaking fashion, as well as in overtime to Canada in last year’s 4 Nations Faceoff.

Now, Team USA has returned the favour, and the sting will be staying with them for a long time.
