Sidney Crosby supports Connor McDavid after crushing Canada’s gold medal game loss

Team Canada captain Sidney Crosby supported teammate Connor McDavid after their crushing loss to Team USA in today’s gold medal game in Milan.
Team Canada suffered a couple of crushing losses during the 2026 Olympics, first losing captain and inspirational leader Sidney Crosby to an injury suffered earlier in the week against Team Czechia.
And today, Canada lost a heartbreaking 2-1 final in overtime to Team USA, who avenged their gold medal game loss in 2010 and their 4 Nations Faceoff OT loss last year by winning their first gold medal since 1980.
Crosby was not able to play in Canada’s last game, a 3-2 win over Finland, and he was not able to play today.
Because of Olympics rules, Canada had to name a different captain in Crosby’s absence, and they chose Connor McDavid.
But after the game, it was Crosby who followed head coach Jon Cooper to the media podium in a show of support.

It wasn’t easy for Crosby not being able to battle with the rest of his teammates for what would have been the third gold medal win of his career.

Unfortunately, this may have been Crosby’s last chance at winning a gold unless he plays until he’s 42 for the 2030 Olympics.
