Sidney Crosby’s Olympic injury scare turned into a promise, Team Canada, Jon Cooper, and the Olympics suddenly feel personal.
Wednesday in Milan, Crosby left Canada’s quarterfinal vs Czechia with a lower-body issue, and the bench had no clean answers in real time.
Cooper didn’t offer an update postgame, which tells you how fast this was moving inside the room.
Then the quote landed, per the below post, about the second intermission chatter.
“This will not be Sid’s last game at the Olympics.”

That is not coach-speak, that’s players talking like teammates protecting their captain.
Crosby’s presence has been the stabilizer for Canada’s entire tournament identity, even with the roster stacked.
He already climbed into a slice of Olympic history in Milano Cortina, which is wild to think about mid-injury storyline.
Sidney Crosby and Team Canada refuse the ending
If you’re a Canadian fan, your stomach drops on the hit, then your brain starts bargaining for good news.
Cooper being the guy delivering that room message matters too, because Hockey Canada picked him to run this Olympic bench.
For Crosby, the “not last game at the Olympics” idea instantly points ahead to semi-final or perhaps the Gold/Bronze game.
Crosby has never sounded like someone ready to stop competing.
Back in Pittsburgh, the Penguins can only sweat it out, because he’s been driving their offence at 27-32-59.
They’re sitting 29-15-12, and the whole season tilts if “day-to-day” becomes something heavier.
For Canada, the next milestone is simple: get him healthy enough to pull on the sweater again, and let the room breathe.
