Team Canada forward Connor McDavid has the chance to set the all-time Canadian record in tomorrow’s gold medal game against Team USA.
Superstar Team Canada forward Connor McDavid, thought of as the best player in the NHL, has an incredible 13 points in just five Olympics games.
Tomorrow, he has the chance to set the all time record by a Canadian skater for most points in the Olympics, as he trails only his teammate Sidney Crosby and Jerome Iginla. If he were to somehow score four points, he’d become the all time leader.
Counting another pair of assists to help propel Team Canada to a 3-2 comeback win over Finland earlier today, Connor McDavid now has a remarkable 13 points through 5 games at the Olympics thus far. Going into Sunday's Gold Medal Game, he already trails only 2 names on this list. - Stat Centre
Not only is McDavid going to try and lead the Edmonton Oilers to a third straight Stanley Cup Final appearance, but tomorrow he’ll try and help Canada win their third gold medal in men’s ice hockey since the 2010 Vancouver Games.
Connor McDavid Briefly Assumed The Team Canada Captaincy For Sidney Crosby
Crosby, who was once again named the captain of Team Canada, was hurt in their 4-3 OT win over Czechia after he took a pair of hard hits from Radko Gudas and then Martin Necas.
He was ruled out for the rest of the game, and wasn’t able to play in their 3-2 win over Finland.
Because of Olympic rules, Canada had to name a different captain for the game, and they chose McDavid, who has already said he’ll gladly give it right back to Crosby.
