The Ducks Officially Ask for Compensation After Wrongful Treatment by the NHL

Back to the NHL trade deadline of 2022, the Vegas Golden Knights attempted a trade involving Evgenii Dadonov to Anaheim, only to find out they'd overlooked Dadonov's no-trade list. Anaheim was on it. Now, it seems like Anaheim is ready to confront the league over the whole fiasco.

Elliotte Friedman reported that the Ducks have officially asked for a compensatory draft pick to the NHL after this incident. They argue that they shouldn't take the blame for the failed trade as they were in Dadonov's no-trade clause.

Anaheim has run out of patience with Gary Bettman's antics and is now demanding rectification. And with a draft class as rich as this year's, the Ducks' timing couldn't be more impeccable.

The search for the responsible party has started. At the time, many pointed an accusing finger at Vegas for not providing Anaheim with the critical detail of Dadonov's no-trade list.

However, Vegas shrugged off the blame, stating they themselves were in the dark about Dadonov's no-trade list when they scooped him from Ottawa. This redirected the blame towards the Senators.

Others placed the responsibility on Gary Bettman and the NHL. They criticized the league for their alleged negligence in ensuring their teams were fully informed about player contracts.

The Ducks haven't publicized who they hold accountable for the botched trade, but they won't budge about their demand for compensation.
