Six Canadiens players, including one surprise, will play their last games in Montreal, according to an expert

Obviously, with the current situation of the team, there could be many departures during the summer. This means that many players are currently playing their last games in a CH uniform.

In order to make an exhaustive list of the players that should leave the team very soon, an expert from The Hockey Writers, Ryan Szporer, presented a list of six players, including one surprise, that should not be with the Tricolore next year.

The one who was recently acquired via the lottery to add depth due to Montreal's countless injuries this year, he probably won't be back next year, and his contract ends this summer.

He'll be free as a bird this summer, and he's likely to command a pretty hefty salary. His precarious health could also scare off several teams, including the Habs. This will be a case to watch, as if the 29-year-old veteran were to agree to a short-term, high-dollar contract to revive his career, he could be of interest to Kent Hughes.

The veteran AHL defenseman will become free as a bird this summer. While he's been a good player for the Laval Rocket, he's never made it to the NHL. With the young defensemen growing in the organization, he is 27 years old and may not receive an offer from Hughes.

Like Sean Monahan, he will be a free agent this summer and will be able to sign with the team of his choice. Will he get a second chance in Montreal? It doesn't seem likely at this point, and we frankly wish him the best of luck in relaunching his career elsewhere, in a market that will better suit him.

His career could unfortunately be over due to injuries. His body has abandoned him. He is at a crossroads, and it seems clear that no NHL team will offer him a contract in the summer.

Here's the surprise of Ryan Szporer. He's the most surprising name on this list, because he's still under contract for next season.

Trade rumors have been extremely rampant about him in recent weeks, and they could pick up again this summer, especially if Kent Hughes can acquire a valuable 2023 1st round pick in exchange for his veteran defenseman, but that would be a surprise.

It's true that there's a chance he could be traded this offseason, but the most plausible scenario would be to see him leave at the next trade deadline, if he can stay healthy, obviously, or in the summer of 2024.

His name is surprisingly on this list, but we expect to see him back next fall.
