Proposed trade between the Canadiens and the Canucks involving the 11th overall pick

Much like the acquisition of Sean Monahan last year, Kent Hughes once again has the chance to make a substantial gain by helping another team free up space under the salary cap.

A trade proposal with the Canucks has just surfaced. It would appear that the GM in Vancouver is inclined to get rid of Tyler Myers, who has one season left at $6 million.
Kent Hughes would then have the opportunity to pick up the Canucks' 11th pick in a deal that makes a lot of sense for both teams.
In Montreal
Tyler Myers
1st round 2023 (11th overall)

In Vancouver
Joel Edmundson (50% of his salary withheld)
1st round 2023 (Panthers pick)

For the Canucks, they would gain around 4.5 million in payroll, which is far from negligible. Plus, the team would have a reliable defenseman and leader in Joel Edmundson. And they'd still have the chance to draft a first-round pick, albeit a later one.
For the Habs, there would be greater depth among right-handed defensemen and, of course, the 11th overall pick, which could become another defenseman by the name of David Reinbacher, for example.
