Montreal Canadiens: journalists and the organization clash

BY MARCO    JUNE 17, 2023  (9:55)
With the new administration and the arrival of Chantal Machabée at the Habs, everything was in place for much greater transparency between the media and the organization.

While Kent Hughes is quite honest in his press briefings, and Chantal also does a good job, so was the team's injury record last season.

Journalists were very disappointed with the level of transparency.

"Without making too much noise publicly, according to DansLesCoulisses.com, several journalists assigned to cover the Montreal Canadiens were highly dissatisfied with the Tricolore's management of information regarding injuries. A few situations in particular are said to have flayed the beat over the course of the year, leading to some unpleasant debates between the organization and the media."

- Behind the scenes

It's true that the state of the injured has remained very nebulous, while players absent long-term have been all but forgotten. Sean Monahan, Brendan Gallagher, Joel Edmundson and Michael Matheson, to name but a few, all missed long periods of activity without any concrete news of their condition.

Nevertheless, Kent Hughes has promised that he will address the injury problem and rectify the situation. Donald Balmforth and Graham Rynbend were dismissed. Apparently, the players had returned to play too soon and were making their injuries worse.
