Major surprise to come in Edmonton? The Habs could potentially get Jesse Puljujarvi for free

It's rare to see a 24 year old player, who commands a salary of $3.0M, being left out of the lineup like this. Putting him in the press gallery does not help the organization in trying to get a decent price for the big Finnish winger in a trade.
Worse yet, the solution for the Oilers may have to be even more drastic in order to part with their forward, given the lack of interest in him around the league. According to Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek, he could very well end up on the block very soon.
The man selected 4th overall in the 2016 draft by the Oilers has been a major disappointment since his arrival in the league. In 308 games in the league, he has accumulated 50 goals and 58 assists for a total of 108 points.
No need to mention that this is a disappointing performance for a player in whom the organization had very high expectations.
One of the reasons why the Oilers are having trouble finding a buyer for him could be his current contract. The forward earns a salary of $3M per year and will be an independent player with compensation, with the right to arbitration, next summer.
It will be interesting to see if the Oilers use the waiver solution to get out of this contract. If they do, there is no doubt that the CH will be interested in the player.
It's important to remember that there have been numerous rumours linking Puljujarvi to the CH in recent years, and even this summer. With the club's injury list growing by the day, why not take a chance on the enigmatic forward.
