Lane Hutson on his way to being better than Adam Fox? Former NHL scout makes a big revelation

There are not enough words to describe what a phenomenal season it has been for Canadiens defenseman Lane Hutson.

In addition to dominating the NCAA in his first campaign in the league, earning numerous honours along the way, including a nomination for the prestigious Hobey-Baker Trophy, awarded annually to the league's top player, the 62nd overall pick in the last draft has been sensational in the post-season tournament.

He has taken his game to another level, helping his Boston University team win the Hockey East Conference title yesterday, where he scored two goals, including the game-winner, in overtime.

His performance is making everyone's eyes glaze over, and Canadiens fans are rubbing their hands in the fact that they have a player with exceptional potential in the organization.

Moreover, in connection with the young 19-year-old back, the Tricolore's former scout, Grant McCagg, made a big revelation, involving Hutson.

"I just got a text from someone connected to the NHL saying that an "NHL scout" told him that Hutson > Adam Fox. Time will tell if he's right, but it's an exciting proposition for Canadiens fans, if he's even close to Fox's level, let alone better." - Grant McGagg

Wow!

Of course, comments like that are in no way meant to imply that he will ever become as good as Fox in the NHL. It's always a matter of development and adjustment, especially since Hutson isn't the biggest defenseman at 5-foot-10 and just 160 pounds.

However, to see such a buzz about him, even among NHL scouts, proves that there is something magical for the Habs' future that is being created with Hutson. If he could become just a piece of what Adam Fox is in this league, he would certainly be an important piece of the organization's future success.

In 36 games this year, including post-season games, Hutson has an incredible 14 goals and 47 points.
