Kings could spoil plan for Kent Hughes and Canadiens
Of those rumors, one that makes a lot of sense involves the Habs. Given the lack of goaltending success in recent years at the draft, it wouldn't be surprising to see Kent Hughes try to acquire a goaltender of the future.
Yaroslav Askarov is stuck behind Juuse Saros in Nashville and is reportedly of interest to several NHL teams, including the Canadiens. But that could change.
According to David Pagnotta, the Kings and Predators discussed a deal involving Juuse Saros during the season. According to him, with the recent departure of Cal Petersen in the monster Ivan Provorov trade, this discussion could well come back between the two GMs.
The Kings/Predators had discussed a trade involving goalie Juuse Saros during the season, prior to LA landing Korpisalo/Gavrikov. A package involved multiple 1sts/prospects. I'm curious if LA revisits these talks this month or if that ship has sailed.- David Pagnotta (@TheFourthPeriod) June 7, 2023
Juuse Saros is a solid, established NHL goaltender, but if he were to be traded, Askarov would undoubtedly become the Preds' future, forcing Kent Hughes to look elsewhere in the process.
