Kent Hughes weighs in on Juraj Slafkovsky's future, and several supporters disagree

BY MARCO    MARCH 4, 2023  (10:06)
Juraj Slafkovsky's first season was disappointing to say the least. Obviously, expectations were pretty low, but many fans weren't sure that keeping him in Montreal was the best strategy for his progression.

The 18 year old has suffered some injuries because he doesn't protect himself. Pair that with the fact that he wasn't playing many minutes, you can't blame the doubters for thinking he would have been better off in Laval.

Now that his season is over, many are asking if he belongs in Montreal next year. For Kent Hughes, the plan is pretty clear.

Slafkovsky will probably come back next fall, we'll continue to evaluate him but we won't take any chances. We've already been cursed enough with injuries."

- Kent Hughes

So that means the plan is to bring him back to Montreal, but only when he's fully healthy. Many fans are furious, as they believe he belongs in Laval. The question arises. Is Juraj Slafkovsky really ready for the NHL?
