Kent Hughes has contacted the Jets about Pierre-Luc Dubois

BY MARCO    JUNE 8, 2023  (5:13 PM)
As we mentioned earlier, Pierre-Luc Dubois has asked the Jets to trade him, stating that he will not sign a contract extension in Winnipeg. Not even for a year.

According to Raphaël Doucet's sources, the transaction will take place before the draft, on June 28. It's therefore imperative for interested teams to call the Jets GM as soon as possible, and that's exactly what Kent Hughes did.

According to Arpon Basu and Marc Antoine Godin, Kent Hughes has already contacted his Winnipeg counterpart more than once, and we know what's next.

"The Dubois camp will provide a list of teams with whom the Quebec forward would be interested in signing a long-term deal.

We're talking about maybe five or six teams. Obviously, Brisson will have to assess the willingness of these organizations to integrate Dubois and his new contract before adding them to the list.

The Canadiens, who contacted the Jets as soon as they were eliminated, will be one of them." - The Athletic

Dubois wants to sign an eight-year deal with his new team, in a city where he sees himself raising his children. Winnipeg wasn't the right place for his family, and that's a big plus for the Habs.

However, Dubois will have to accept being paid as second fiddle, because Hughes certainly won't offer him more than Nick Suzuki.
