Jesse Puljujarvi may Have to Cut his Career Short After Recent Surgeries and No Contract Offers

Jesse Puljujarvi commenced his career on shaky ground. Edmonton was a challenging arena for the young Finn, where he struggled to find his footing before his eventual trade to the Hurricanes. It was in the latter team that he began to exhibit signs of progression.

As Puljujarvi braced himself to step into the free agent market, a substantial development emerged that threw a spanner in the works for the budding talent.

The erstwhile fourth overall pick went through a double hip surgery, ruling him out for several months. Adding insult to injury, it was also brought to light that the Hurricanes won't extend an offer to him, leaving him as an unrestricted free agent (UFA).

According to a report by Chris Johnston:

The future for Puljujarvi teeters on the edge of uncertainty. If he manages a full recovery and is ready to re-enter the rink, he would still require someone to sign him.

However, if no team extends him the needed lifeline, he might consider shifting his career to Europe.
