The verdict is in on the final top-3 for the selection of the new Hobey-Baker Trophy recipient.

There was a preliminary list of 10 players from the university league who were in the running for the award, including Canadiens prospects Sean Farrell and Lane Hutson.
So, in connection with this latest cut, before naming the top NCAA player of the 2022-2023 season, we just learned that neither Hutson nor Farrell survived the cut.
The three finalists are the top prospect in the upcoming draft, Adam Fantilli, along with Logan Cooley of the Arizona Coyotes and Matthew Knies of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
If Fantilli's choice was unquestionable, he literally dominated the league, Knies' choice was more criticized, especially since the two young players of the Habs overshadowed his production, and one of them is a defenseman.
Hutson will have a chance to bounce back next year, but it should be noted that the outcome of this trophy does not change their potential at all.
