Artem Ivanyuzhenkov, a former prospect of the San Jose Sharks, has been suspected with the murder of a 23-year-old man, whom he allegedly stabbed to death in the city of Podolsk while celebrating his birthday with friends. Witnesses have identified Ivanyuzhenkov as the killer, but he denies the allegations.

According to his comments translated from media outlet Aftonbladet, he stated:
"False and complete lies are flying around the internet that I committed a crime in the Moscow region in some restaurant. Do not believe unconfirmed information. I am at the training camp in Sochi for the third day. The investigation will sort everything out."

Ivanyuzhenkov signed a contract with the Sharks in the 2019-2020 season but played in no more than 2 AHL games. After spending the rest of the year in the ECHL, he left North America.
This is not the first time Ivanyuzhenkov has been involved in such a serious crime. He killed a cyclist in the Moscow area in 2020. Due to his father's position as the Deputy Speaker of the Russian Parliament, Boris Ivanyuzhenkov, he was not convicted for killing the cyclist.
It remains to be seen what will happen to Ivanyuzhenkov as the investigation is ongoing.
