Departure announced: the Montreal Canadiens have lost a good one

It's often said that to win the Stanley Cup, you need the whole team to pull together. The players perform well on the ice, but there are a lot of people working behind the scenes to achieve the ultimate goal.

Recruiting is an integral part of a team's success. It doesn't just stop with the prospects, but with all the players who could potentially be traded to your club.

The Habs had a very good one in Matt Turek, but his departure was somewhat overlooked.

"On the other hand, a major departure in the amateur scouting department has flown under the radar in recent months.

Ontario scout Matt Turek is no longer working for the Canadiens, the organization has confirmed. Turek is known, among other things, for having played a major role in the signing of defenseman Arber Xhekaj, a revelation for the Canadiens last season as an undrafted player."

- Nicolas Cloutier

Turek is notably the man who discovered Arber Xhekaj. He was promoted to interim general manager of the Hamilton Bulldogs in the OHL, and there was a conflict of interest.

In short, an NHL rule forced him to step down with the CH. He was replaced by Joey Tenute.

It's amazing to see how many important members of an organization there are that we don't know about, and what a crucial role they play!
