Controversial Statement Involving Kirby Dach and Alexis Lafrenière Gets Surfaced

In his most recent appearance on Tony Marinaro's podcast, The Sick Podcast, former Montreal Canadiens scout Grant McCagg touched on a hot topic when talking about the Alexis Lafreniere situation in New York, he who has been part of many trade rumors for some time.

He went even further and said that he would be willing to offer Kirby Dach in return for Laffy, in order to make the Rangers flinch.

The latter justified his words by explaining that it would be a trade between two top-3 picks who have not yet taken off.

It must be said that despite the Quebec aspect of this transaction, this controversial proposal was not well received on social networks.

After all, Dach has only been in Montreal for a few months and has shown some excellent flashes, especially alongside Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. The future looks bright for this trio, who are complementing each other extremely well on the ice this season.

Lafreniere is not a guaranteed success any more than Dach, so it would be a big gamble for Kent Hughes to start from scratch by letting go of the club's number 77 who already completes a trio.

Add to that the fact that even though Dach seems to be developing more as a winger, the fact that he can play center gives the Habs additional flexibility.

Furthermore, the pressure Montreal puts on the Quebecer could play a considerable role in Lafreniere's development, should he come to play for the Habs.
