Bruins and Jets are the perfect match for an Offseason trade

The Boston Bruins and Winnipeg Jets are in an interesting position this offseason. Both teams suffered embarrassing Round One defeats in the playoffs, casting doubt upon their futures.

The Bruins have an aging core, and its unclear if the franchise mainstays Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci will return for another season. These potential departures leave the Bruins with weak center depth.

The Jets are in a similar boat, with a lack of recent playoff success under their current core, with many key pieces entering the final years of their deals.

Among them is star centre man Mark Scheifele. Scheifele has been the face of the modern Jets since he was drafted 6th overall in 2011 ahead of their inaugural season in Winnipeg. Scheifele has spent his whole career as a Jet, and is coming off career-high in goals with 42.

HIs value has arguably never been higher, and with his contract expiring at the end of next season, it may make sense to trade him to kickstart a Jets rebuild.

Scheifele would be a perfect fit as the second-line center in Boston if Bergeron returns, allowing him to focus on the offensive side of his game with Bergeron doing the defensive heavy lifting.
