We're obviously talking a lot about Connor Bedard's stellar performance at the World Junior Championship, but there is another player who has been getting praised all tournament long, and that's Joshua Roy.

After the gold medal game and his masterful pass that led to Canada's golden goal, the 19-year-old forward became the highest scoring Quebecer in Team Canada history, surpassing the previous mark held by a certain Jonathan Huberdeau.
In addition to completing a trio with the phenomenon Connor Bedard and Logan Stankoven, he was used in all sorts of ways, both in defensive and offensive missions. In fact, his assistant coach with the Canadian team and real coach of his junior team with the Sherbrooke Phoenix, Stéphane Julien, had nothing but good things to say about him.
While on the air of 98.5, Julien praised the merits of the Quebec forward and let's just say that it bodes well for Habs fans.
"Josh is one of the players with the highest hockey sense that I've known as a coach at the junior level. His touch around the net is incredible.

What I love about Josh, he's perfect for Montreal. He's a guy who is not nervous with the puck. He's a guy who is able to go out and get big goals in big moments.

I'm not worried that we're going to see him with the Habs."

It promises for the future of the latter in the organization of the Tricolore!
As we know, Roy was a fifth-round pick of the CH in the 2021 NHL draft and he is the latest pick among the players of Canada.
One thing is certain, the Habs have identified a player with very good potential as far back as the fifth round and this is a major steal by the former management. There is no doubt that if the draft were to be redone right now, the CH prospect would definitely be in the top 20 players drafted in 2021.
Will he be in a CH uniform as soon as next year?
Hard to say at this point, I'd say it's mostly going to depend on Kent Hughes' personnel moves over the summer, even though Jonathan Drouin and Evgenii Dadonov won't be back, the Habs still have, for now, several wingers signed for next year to play on the 2nd or 3rd trio, including Mike Hoffman, Joel Armia, Josh Anderson and Brendan Gallagher.
However, you still need a top-9 spot for him, otherwise there's no point in wasting his talent on a 4th line. If nothing else, the Rocket's affiliate will be stocked with another young talent from the organization while Hughes cleans up the offense.
