The Boston Bruins recently completed a record-breaking season for the number of wins in the NHL.

However, despite their outstanding performance during the regular season, the Bruins faced an unexpected turn of events in the first round of the playoffs against the Florida Panthers.

This has prompted the Bruins' management to consider making significant strategic adjustments. There are indications that Don Sweeney, the General Manager, is thinking about adding a new star player to the team.

The Bruins are Looking for Offensive Talent

The rumors are that the Bruins are eyeing Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

According to Boston Hockey Now's Jimmy Murphy, the Bruins are reportedly keen on procuring Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, the star forward from the Edmonton Oilers.

Nugent-Hopkins, who was the first overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft by the Oilers, is 30 years old. In the previous season, he impressively scored 37 goals and 67 assists.

Contractual Complications

Ken Holland, the General Manager of the Oilers, recently signed Nugent-Hopkins to an eight-year contract extension worth $41 million. It's important to note that this contract includes a full NTC.

This clause means that any potential trade involving Nugent-Hopkins would require his consent to join the Bruins. Such a move could benefit him by providing a prominent platform and an opportunity to step out of the shadows of his Edmonton teammates, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
