The great thing about a rebuild is that you get to see the young players progress. If you look at the Canadiens' Stanley Cup final in 2021, it's all very pleasant, but only six players were drafted by the CH and only three remain today, with the departures of Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Artturi Lehkonen and Alexander Romanov.

Among today's Canadiens, we can appreciate the progress of several players, including Cole Caufield and Kaiden Guhle, to name but a few. As for Laval, it's not all bad either.
Last year, one player made great strides, and we're talking about 2020 4th-round pick William Trudeau. He has really become an impact defenseman for the team.
It's no secret that Trudeau works very hard and deserves what he gets. A bit like Rafaël Harvey-Pinard in Montreal, he has seized his chance with all the injuries.
His assistant coach, Kelly Buchberger, had some particularly good words for the young defender:
"He's a charm to coach. He plays with heart and intensity. He doesn't back down from anyone and has great skills."

"He has a chance of playing in the NHL one day. I have no doubt about that."

"His arrival on the power play came at the right time. Our first wave has reached another level.

"It's very good for an organization to see a player his age [20] progress in this way. His hard work has been rewarded with time on the power play." - Kelly Buchberger

We love it! And we strongly hope he can continue his progression, eventually playing for the Montreal Canadiens.
