A 17-year-old Prospect in a Men's league gets knocked out cold with a Huge Hit
At just 17-years-old, Adam Jiricek was Destroyed on a Blue Line Hit in the Czechia Extraliga Mens League
There is something to be said about playing as a young prospect in a mens league. Some players have already grown into themselves and can handle it. Other players like Adam Jiricek just may not have been ready.
The 17-year-old 152-pound defenseman was knocked out in a game last night. The man who hit him was nearly 50-pounds heavier and 10 years his senior. Take a look at the hit here.
Here was the hit on 17-year-old, 152-pound defenceman Adam Jiricek in the Czechia Extraliga by 27-year-old, 201-pound Jan Scotka yesterday. Exhibit A for why you shouldn't rush kids into men's leagues. This wasn't easy to watch. pic.twitter.com/oOD3qX077O— Grant McCagg (@grantmccagg) November 29, 2023
Brother David Jiricek is asked about any serious injuries to Adam as a result of this hit
Seeing this hit was a tough one to watch. Jiricek is much smaller then Jan Scotka and seemingly has not grown into his frame just yet.
Luckily it seems that he will be okay. Here is a update on the condition of Jiricek.
Spoke with David Jiricek this morning. His brother is now dealing with a concussion, which is bad, but no other broken bones or sprains from this hit ... which is good. https://t.co/0o3XKtIHiZ— Brian Hedger (@BrianHedger) November 29, 2023
Let's hope that it is not serious. But all leagues should consider the health of young players when it comes to possible hits and concussions like this one.
