Today the Vancouver Canucks and Pittsburgh Penguins have made a trade involving Calder Cup MVP Arturs Silovs.

Over the last several weeks, speculation has been building regarding Arturs Silovs' future in Vancouver.
This comes on the heels of Thatcher Demko receiving a long-term contract contract from Patrik Allvin and the Canucks.
Today, Allvin and the Canucks have made their decision trading Silovs to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Chase Stillman and a 2027 NHL Draft pick.
Silovs becomes the instant likely starter for the Penguins while the Canucks get back a forward prospect in Chase Stillman and a mid-round draft pick.
Last season, Stillman at 22-years-old spent the entire season in the the AHL split between the Utica Comets and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Despite being a former first-round pick Stillman projects at best as a bottom-six forward as of now with good forechecking qualities.
Stillman will also be joining his third organization in the last 12 months so it will be interesting to see if the Canucks coaching staff can unlock the potential that many saw during Stillman's draft season.
With the Canucks committing to Lankinen and Demko long-term, it is no surprise that Silovs was moved but timing and the return ends up being quite lackluster for the Canucks considering Silovs' potential.
Instead of waiting for a goaltending needy team or for a team who loses a goalie to injury to overpay for him the Canucks traded Silovs for a mediocre return when they had all of the leverage to push for a better deal.
Now that the Canucks have used likely their biggest trade chip sending away Silovs it will be interesting to see what their plan is to fill the holes that remain on their roster.
