Artemi Panarin landing with the Los Angeles Kings just squeezed the Evander Kane market, and Vancouver Canucks fans should care.

This one moved fast on Wednesday, February 4, right up against the Olympic roster freeze.
ESPN reporting has Panarin going from the New York Rangers to the Kings for prospect Liam Greentree and a conditional third-round pick.
Panarin isn’t a rental throw-in either, he had 57 points in 52 games before the swap.
For the Canucks angle, the key is who stops shopping now.
That second post nails the ripple, Panarin probably takes the Kings out on Kane.
It tracks, because Ken Holland runs the Kings, and he’s already lived the Kane experience.

Evander Kane and Vancouver Canucks lose a bidder

Canucks fans have that tired feeling, like every decent exit ramp closes right when Vancouver needs leverage.
If the Kings were a real lane for Evander Kane, it mattered because Holland can sell a "win now" winger add without blinking.
Now that money and that roster spot get eaten by Panarin, and Kane’s suitors shrink by one.
That is bad news for Vancouver if the goal is a clean move before March 6.
Kane’s 2025-26 line sits at 9-16-25, and the tape still screams straight-line chaos when he’s going.
His cap hit is $5.125 million and he can walk as a UFA after this season, so the Canucks need bidders, not vibes.
With fewer bidders, Vancouver either retains salary or settles for a lighter return.
Either way, Panarin to L.A. just made the Kane conversation messier, and the next shoe feels close.
