Bobby McMann trade chatter hits the Oilers, and it screams cap-friendly help for the top-nine.
Brenden Escott flagged the noise, and David Pagnotta floated the idea on radio.
Edmonton lives on the edge of the cap, so the name matters as much as the player.
McMann is 29, a left shot, and he plays a straight-line game that travels in the playoffs.
He’s also undrafted, which is part of the appeal, because he had to earn every inch of his role.
"This could be very interesting for a team like the #Oilers and others that are right up against the cap..."

On the ice, the production is real this season. He has 17-12-29 in 53 games.
That is the kind of secondary scoring Edmonton keeps hunting without blowing up the room.
He can slide next to Leon Draisaitl for retrievals, or live on Connor McDavid’s wing and just keep plays alive.
Bobby McMann gives the Edmonton Oilers cheap punch
Oilers fans are tired of "almost" adds, so a real NHL forward with a real cap number feels like oxygen.
McMann’s cap hit is $1.35 million, and he’s a pending UFA after this season.
That matters, because Edmonton can fit him without gutting the blue line or gambling between the pipes.
He also brings honest forecheck pressure, and that can win shifts when the stars are catching their breath.
If he’s your third-line driver who can pop up in the top-six, that’s playoff insulation.
And if he sticks on the second power-play unit, his quick-release shot adds one more problem for penalty kills.
This is still scuttlebutt, not a done deal, but the logic is clean.
The Oilers do not need a splash, they need a worker who scores.
