Andrew Mangiapane trade talk just got louder, and it stings because it sounds so close to real.

OilersNation says Edmonton was ready to move Mangiapane for Matias Maccelli.

Then the twist, Toronto "wasn't too interested," per Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos.

That one line matters, because it frames the Oilers as aggressive, not passive, with the deadline coming.

It also fits the reality of Edmonton's season, sitting at 28-23-8.

Maccelli, meanwhile, has 10-14-24 and has done most of it without needing prime power-play minutes to breathe.

Oilers fans are tired of "almost" fixes, so hearing Toronto shut this door feels like another slap.

Maccelli is 25, drafted in 2019, Round 4 by the Arizona Coyotes, and he's on a one-year $3.425 million deal.

That near-dollar match with Mangiapane is why this rumor sticks.
