Dallas Stars Give Up On Jake Oettinger Only Two Shots In to Elimination Game 5 Against the Edmonton Oilers

The Dallas Stars came into Game 5 with a must win mentality after going down 3-1 in the series against the Oilers.

With so much on the line many expected the Stars to come out of the gates strong and full of desperation.

Instead, things have gone entirely wrong as the Stars have imploded early.

Specifically, goaltender Jake Oettinger let the bright lights get to him giving up 2 goals on 2 shots.

Corey Perry kicked off the scoring followed shortly by Mattias Janmark allowing the Oilers to put a stranglehold on the game.

After such a disappointing start, Dallas Stars head coach Pete DeBoer stepped in and made an incredibly bold move pulling Oettinger from the game.

Casey DeSmith would enter the game but he too would have almost immediate problems in the net as Jeff Skinner would put the Edmonton Oilers up 3-0 with his first career Stanley Cup Playoff goal.

The Dallas Stars now have a massive hole to climb out of in the remainder of the game if they would like to keep their Stanley Cup hopes alive.

The Stars have begun that fight back from down three as forward Jason Robertson buried a goal just over halfway through the first period.

If the intial three goal lead ends up being enough for the Edmonton Oilers, they will once again head to the Stanley Cup Finals for a much anticipated rematch against the defending champion Florida Panthers.
