The Utah Mammoth have surprisingly placed former starting goalie Connor Ingram on NHL waivers, leaving the door wide open for the Oilers to pounce on him.

Utah Mammoth goaltender Connor Ingram was one of seven roster moves announced by the NHL on Thursday afternoon.
He was waived, along with right winger Oscar Eklind, from the Philadelphia Flyers and Ottawa Senators rosterers Hunter Shepard, Cameron Crotty, Wyatt Bongiovanni, Xavier Bourgault, and Garrett Pilon.
If they get through waivers by 2 p.m. ET on Friday unclaimed, all will become eligible to be optioned to the minors. For the time being, all teams get to attempt to make a claim.
Ingram, age 28, and the Mammoth have agreed to go their separate ways. He has not attended training camp, although he was cleared by the NHL and NHLPA's Player Assistance Program on August 20.
He played through last season's campaign in just 22 contests before stopping in March to deal with personal issues with a 9-8-4 mark and 3.27 goals-against average and .882 save percentage.

Connor Ingram was one of the Top NHL Goalies During the 2023-24 Season

Less than a year ago, Ingram was going strong as the Arizona Coyotes starter. He appeared in 50 games in 2023-24 and closed out the season with a 23-21-3 record and with a 2.91 goals-against average, .907 save percentage, and six shutouts, the statistics that won him the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.
Arizona plucked him off waivers from Nashville in 2022, and now he's in his final season on his three-year contract with a $1.95 million cap charge.
With his past experience, Ingram would attract attention from teams requiring greater consistency between the pipes. The Edmonton Oilers would be particularly inclined to act.
Having had spells of instability from Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard, Ingram would provide insurance and possible competition to the other two.
With the waiver deadline looming, what happens over the next 24 hours may determine if Ingram's future is back in the minor leagues or with a fresh NHL team, such as the Oilers, looking to take one more shot
