Before the NHL regular season even starts, a controversial call happened in the Flyers vs Canadiens game last night causing a little concern in the league.

During the game, it appeared that the Philadelphia Flyers were about to get themselves a goal. But the referee called for goaltender interference.
Upon watching this play a few times, it is difficult to actually see any type of interference on Cayden Primeau in goal at the time for the Habs.
Granted, it is only pre-season. So referees are still getting themselves in season shape as well as the players.
During the game itself, Primeau benefited from this call, allowing no goals and stopping 13 shots. Jakub Dobes then entered the game and stopped the remaining 12 Flyers shots to give the Canadians the 5-0 shutout victory. Montreal jumped on the Flyers blueliners for 4 goals in the 3rd period.
Flyer fans were already outraged and ready to jump on the refs after seeing this type of a call against their team.
Goaltender interference is a hot topic in the NHL. It is not a clear-cut type of penalty to call. And it varies from referee to referee on when and how to call it. Hopefully this issue is resolved so that during the regular and post-season these types of calls do not make a difference in a meaningful game.
