Tonight, former Montreal Canadiens goalie Patrick Roy has shared a heartfelt message dedicated to Claude Lemieux after his recent sudden passing.

The hockey world was sent into shock this afternoon as news was reported that former NHLer Claude Lemieux had unexpectedly passed away at age 60.
The news was shocking considering Lemieux had just been attendance at the Montreal Canadiens playoff game against the Carolina Hurricanes as the torch carrier in the Bell Center.
Just three days later, Lemieux has now passed away and with the announcement of his passing has come tribute and remembrance messages from across the NHL.
One special message was shared from Lemieux's former Canadiens teammate Patrick Roy this evening.

In a post on X, Canadiens reporter Renaud Lavoie shared a statement given to him by Patrick Roy addressing the sudden passing of his former teammate Claude Lemieux.
In the statement, Roy shared his love and appreciation for Lemieux while sending condolences to his family.
In his statement, Roy credits Lemieux for being a key part of the Canadiens Stanley Cup run and praised Lemieux for being an incredible teammate and fierce competitor.
I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Claude Lemieux. Claude was an exceptional teammate, a fierce competitor, a key player in many of our greatest triumphs, and a player who left his mark on our sport. His intensity and determination made him a player respected by his teammates and feared by his opponents. We shared unforgettable moments, memorable victories, and a common passion for hockey. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
Lemieux and Roy played first played together for five seasons in Montreal before reuniting again when Roy arrived in Colorado with the Avalanche.
They would spend another five seasons together in Colorado winning another Stanley Cup with the Avs in 1996.
Our condolences go out to the Lemieux family as the navigate such a difficult time after an unimaginable loss.
