After a local Vegas company set up 165 trolling billboards in Edmonton, Oilers fans struck back by issuing many complaints, essentially having all signs removed.

A Las Vegas sports bar tried to stoke the fire in Edmonton, but Oilers fans were not amused. After a thrilling Game 3 win on Saturday, the Vegas Golden Knights were on cloud nine.
With just 0.4 seconds left on the clock, a goal credited to Reilly Smith, though it was last on Leon Draisaitl's stick, gave Vegas the win and cut Edmonton's series lead to 2-1.
To celebrate the victory and jeer Oilers fans, PKWY Tavern in Las Vegas posted a tongue-in-cheek advertisement campaign in Edmonton.
They ran 165 electronic billboards, some of which were only three kilometres from Rogers Place, touting a stuck game clock reading 0.4 seconds, the tavern logo, and "Go Knights Go."
PKWY Tavern boldly posted a shot of the ads on a billboard at Edmonton's City Centre Mall when the campaign kicked off on Monday. The ads were set to remain up until the puck was dropped for Game 4 on Monday evening.

Complaints from Oilers fans flooded in, and the ads were quickly removed

However, the backlash came instantly. Due to complaints from the public and from almost all of Oilers Nation, the billboard company took down the ads prematurely. Oilers fans got their revenge and definitely made that sports bar waste a lot of money.
"Typically, we allow creative to run that might be seen as provocative (even if in humour) but if complaints start to come in, we take it down,» the billboard company told Fine.

"We just did this in good fun, and we understand how good of a team you guys have up there," Fine said. "So if we can throw a little mental curveball in there, we're doing everything we can as fans.

"It's all friendly, good rivalry, just having a little bit of fun with a great win."

The Golden Knights-Oilers rivalry obviously isn't cooling down anytime in the near future. Edmontonians are fired up and may be cooking up a little payback of their own. Will an Oilers-themed billboard pop up in Vegas next? Oilers fans sure hope so.
